HISTORY
Sims Lanier was born and raised in Statesboro, where he continues to reside. He was educated in the public school system of Bulloch County; graduated from Georgia Southern University; and graduated with honors from the John Marshall School of Law.
Sims became the fourth generation in his family to practice law in the Statesboro area when he was admitted to the Bar in 1979. At the outset of his practice Sims held the position of Public Defender for the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit (Bulloch, Effingham, Jenkins, and Screven counties) for five and a half years. Since that time he has continued in a sole practice devoted to criminal representation in thousands of felony and misdemeanor cases.
